Gene’s practice includes the preparation and prosecution of patents in a variety of mechanical and chemical technologies; patent investigations including patentability, non-infringement, and invalidity opinions; trademark registration and trademark selection counseling; copyright registration and counseling; and related licensing and contract preparation.  Gene also has extensive experience in all phases of intellectual property litigation.  Prior to joining the firm in 2009, Gene practiced intellectual property law in Grand Rapids for 13 years.
